Repro-Scan for Dairy Herds

The Repro-Scan 5200 is a very portable veterinary ultrasound that is very easy to use and easy to learn. The Repro-Scan 4.0 MHz convex rectal probe provides a wide angle and deeper image to allow for easier and rapid detection of the pregnant or open uterus. The fetus or embryo can be visualized to approximately 34 days of gestation. Checking cows less than 34 days bred requires a diagnosis to be made on the presence of fluid in the uterine horns. This probe can also fit into the ReproArm, a patent pending introducer that allows for the examination of the bovine reproductive tract without having to place ones arm in the rectum of the cow.
The Repro-Scan 5200 also has the option of a 6.5 MHz linear rectal probe that can be used for fetal sexing, studying ovarian structures, and pregnancy diagnosis down to 28 days.
Dr. Bruce Hill (dairy veterinarian and owner of ReproScan) has been using the Repro-Scan on herd checks for quite some time now and his first comment about the experience is that he no longer has any "palpation pain" in his wrist or forearm. Clients also comment that the cows find the "Repro-Arm easier on the cow than doc's arm".
One of the best demonstrations was on a Jersey Dairy in Colorado. Have a look at this video clip to see the Repro-Scan in action (Repro-Scanning on a Jersey Herd).
